The Port of Hueneme, a commercial trade gateway for niche cargo on the West Coast, has experienced record economic growth since 2012, adding over 3,600 jobs raising the employment total to over 13,600. The data stems from the Port’s recently released Economic Assessment prepared by Martin Associates, a firm specializing in economic analysis for the U.S. port industry.
“This jobs escalation provides a significant boost to local individuals and families, as well as creates outward benefits for the entire County and region,” noted Port President & CEO Kristin Decas.
In addition to soaring employment rates, the Port saw impressive growth in cargo activity. The assessment details the total economic impact of the Port’s terminals providing $1.5 billion to the region. Local communities have also benefitted from annual state and local taxes on port operations which fund vital services to the area.
