For the third year in a row, Cruise Critic – the world’s leading cruise reviews site and online cruise community – has named the Port of San Diego one of the Top 5 cruise destinations in the United States and Canada as part of the annual Cruiser Choice Awards, a program naming the world’s top cruise destinations based entirely on consumer ratings.
The Port of San Diego’s two cruise ship terminals, B Street Pier and Broadway Pier, are located downtown, offering a seamless transition from the cruise ship to the city. San Diego’s Embarcadero is home to unique museums, epicurean delights, and panoramic views of the city skyline and San Diego Bay. Additionally, thriving neighborhoods such as Little Italy and the Ballpark District offer international flavors and entertainment within minutes of the cruise terminals.
“The Port of San Diego is honored to be voted one of the Top 5 cruise destinations by Cruise Critic’s online community for the third year in a row,” said Port Chairman Rafael Castellanos. “From the moment a ship arrives in port, San Diego’s waterfront welcomes visitors with its public gardens, a visitor information center and public art. Our dynamic destination with its attractions and events gives cruise passengers a visit to remember.”
The Port of San Diego’s cruise season has been projected to see a 12 percent increase in calls this year. With the announcement of Carnival Cruise Line’s return to San Diego, the 23 percent increase in passenger counts and the projected 94 calls this season, the Port is well positioned as a choice destination for cruisers.
