Anthony J. Taormina Named Oxnard Harbor District Executive Director

Maritime and transportation industry veteran returns to local post.

Port Hueneme, CA ­– Anthony J. Taormina has been named the new Oxnard Harbor District Executive Director. The Board of Commissioners of the Oxnard Harbor District announced the appointment in a public meeting on May 8, 2006. As Executive Director, Mr. Taormina will supervise operations at the Port of Hueneme. His term will begin in mid-June.

A thirty-year veteran of the maritime and transportation industry, Mr. Taormina previously served as the Oxnard Harbor District’s Executive Director from 1985 to 1995. Most recently, Mr. Taormina was Director, Auto Business for the Port of Tacoma. He has been Executive Director for Mississippi State Port Authority (Gulfport, Mississippi) and Port of Palm Beach (Riviera Beach, Florida). In addition to his public port authority service, Mr. Taormina also served as Primary Consultant to the California Senate Select Committee on Maritime Industry, Director of Seaport Development for OmniTRAX, Inc., a private short-line railroad and intermodal operator, and a member of various transportation consulting entities including sole proprietor of Port Directions LLC, a marine transportation consulting business.
